STEP BY STEP: 3 INDUCTIVE GRAMMAR

Teaching grammar is most of the time a constant headache for the ESL teacher, it is true that curriculums are not always flexible and it is difficult to make lessons fun every day,for everyone expects the children to finish all the activities in their book before the year ends, but, when teaching a language,I think we must aim for communicative competence more than remembering grammar rules, for this reason I think grammar should be taught in context, creating real situations where the children must interact in the target language ie:English. I am obviously a great fan of communicative approaches but understand that a grammatical knowledge is important to avoid language interference, especially for writing. This album shows some of the different ways I try to teach grammar: with smartboard displays for role playing, with objects to handle and talk about, with "The grammar game"...
